How do I install and use an Expert Advisor (EA)?

On MT4/MT5 for Windows, install an EA as follows.

 

1. Obtain the EA file from a trusted source.

2. From the top menu in MT4/MT5, select [File > Open Data Folder].

3. Copy the EA file to [MQL4 > Experts] for MT4 or [MQL5 > Experts] for MT5.

4. Restart MT4/MT5 or select [Refresh] in the Navigator window.

5. Under [Tools > Options > Expert Advisors], check that algorithmic trading is allowed.

6. Drag the installed EA from Navigator onto the required chart.

7. Review the EA settings and trading permissions, then run it.
